Accounts from the Sessions

"I attended the Landscape Session a few months before my 55th birthday. I had no idea what EPF withdrawal actually involved in practice — I thought it was simpler than it turned out to be. The facilitator walked through everything clearly, and I left knowing exactly which counters I needed to visit and what to bring. No pressure to do anything in particular."

"The Records Workshop was very practical — maybe a bit long by the afternoon, but we got through my whole pile of papers and I left with everything labelled and in order for the first time in years. The maintenance checklist has been genuinely useful. I would have liked a printed summary of the EPF terms too, but overall it was worth the day."

"What I appreciated most was that nobody was trying to sell me anything. I have been to retirement seminars before and they always turn into a product pitch halfway through. Restford stayed completely on the educational side. The facilitator even said at the start exactly what they would and would not cover. That set a good tone for the whole morning."

Wong Mei Ling

"I booked the Companion Programme for my father, who is 62 and had never really sorted out his documents. He came away with a proper binder, a list of questions to bring to the EPF branch, and a much clearer sense of what to expect when he goes in. The follow-up support after the programme was also very helpful when he had a question about a particular document type."

Seberang Perai, Penang
"The glossary is the thing I keep coming back to. I had heard the term 'nominee' before but never fully understood what it meant in the EPF context. The session cleared that up along with several other terms I had been vaguely confused about. I would have liked the session to run a bit longer, but what was covered was solid and well-explained."

Suraya Yusof
George Town, Penang
"I work in HR and sent three of my older colleagues to the Companion Programme. All three came back saying it was exactly what they had needed — not someone telling them what to do with their money, but someone helping them understand what they had and how to organise it. I will be sending more colleagues next year."

How the Programmes Have Helped
Three participant journeys, in brief — from their starting point to what changed after attending a Restford programme.
The Challenge
Twelve Years of Unsorted Paperwork
A 58-year-old participant had twelve years of payslips, EPF statements, and insurance documents piled in three different boxes. She could not locate her most recent EPF statement and had no idea whether her nominee details were current.
The Programme
Records Organisation Workshop
She attended a full-day Records Organisation Workshop. By early afternoon she had sorted the material into relevant categories. By the end of the day, the folder was labelled, indexed, and the irrelevant documents were set aside for disposal.
The Outcome
Ready for the EPF Branch
Two weeks after the workshop, she visited the EPF branch with her organised folder, updated her nominee details, and confirmed her Account 1 and 2 balances. The folder had everything the counter needed within reach. Duration: one full day plus two-week follow-through.
"I had been putting off going to EPF for two years because I felt unprepared. After the workshop I went within a fortnight."
The Challenge
Unfamiliar with the Framework
A 52-year-old IT professional had never read his EPF statements carefully. He did not understand the difference between Account 1 and Account 2 and had seen the term "PRS" in various places without knowing what it referred to.
The Programme
Landscape Session
He attended the three-hour Landscape Session. The facilitator walked through the Malaysian retirement framework from the top, defined terms as they appeared, and answered his questions about PRS, pre-retirement withdrawals, and what "age 55" actually triggers in practice.
The Outcome
Confident Enough to Ask the Right Questions
He left with the glossary, read his last two EPF statements that evening, and contacted his HR department with specific questions about his employer's contributions. He felt the session gave him the vocabulary to have useful conversations he had not previously known how to start. Duration: one morning.
"I read my EPF statement properly for the first time that evening. I had had it for years and never really looked at it."
