Chapter II — Why Restford

What Makes Our Approach Different

We keep things calm, clear, and honest. No jargon, no sales pressure, no promises about outcomes — just well-organised information you can actually use.

Plain Language Throughout

Every session uses everyday English. We define terms as we go and provide written glossaries so nothing gets lost in translation.

Education Without Advice

We explain the general landscape and help you organise your papers. We do not provide personal financial advice, which means there is no conflict of interest at any point.

Locally Relevant Content

All sessions are grounded in the Malaysian context — EPF, SOCSO, PRS, and the official bodies that oversee them — not generic international frameworks.

Practical Document Support

Participants leave our workshops with a real, usable folder — not just notes. Filing templates and checklists make ongoing maintenance straightforward.

Small, Attentive Groups

Sessions are kept small so every participant has room to ask questions. The pace is unhurried and the atmosphere is supportive rather than pressured.

Your Privacy Respected

We do not request sensitive financial figures or account details. The focus is on your documents' structure and organisation, handled with discretion at all times.

Chapter III — Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers about what we do, how our sessions work, and what to expect.

What exactly is "retirement information" — and what is it not? +
Retirement information refers to general, factual content about how retirement systems work in Malaysia — which bodies administer them, what the broad processes involve, and where to find official guidance. It is distinct from financial advice, which would involve analysing your personal situation and recommending specific actions. We provide only the former. For personal decisions, we encourage you to consult EPF, SOCSO, or a licensed financial planner directly.
Who typically attends your sessions? +
Most participants are within five to ten years of their intended retirement date and want to understand what they should be thinking about and how their documents should be organised. We also receive enquiries from adult children helping an older parent get their paperwork in order, as well as HR professionals who want a clearer picture of the information landscape for their staff.
What is the difference between the three programmes? +
The Landscape Session (RM 620) is a single informative meeting focused purely on understanding the general retirement framework. The Records Workshop (RM 2,250) is a hands-on session where you physically organise your documents and leave with a filled, labelled folder. The Companion Programme (RM 4,380) combines both and adds follow-up support and preparation of questions for the relevant official bodies.
Do you provide any financial advice or investment recommendations? +
No. Restford operates solely as an educational and organisational resource. We do not hold a financial planning licence and we do not make recommendations about what to do with your money. Our role is to help you understand the general landscape and keep your own documents tidy and accessible. For personal financial decisions, please consult a licensed financial planner or contact EPF and SOCSO directly.
How long does each session or programme take? +
The Landscape Session runs for approximately three hours including a short break. The Records Workshop is typically a full day (around six hours) to allow adequate time for each participant's documents. The Companion Programme takes place across two or three meetings spread over several weeks. Exact schedules are confirmed when you book.
What documents should I bring to the workshop? +
We send all confirmed participants a short checklist before the session. Generally this includes EPF statements, any employment-related documents, insurance policy summaries, and identification. You do not need to bring anything confidential like account passwords or full financial statements — the focus is on the structure and labels of your documents, not their specific figures.
Are sessions held in English only? +
Our primary session language is English, and all written materials are in English. If you have questions during a session in Bahasa Malaysia, our facilitators will do their best to assist. Please let us know your preference when enquiring so we can plan accordingly.
