How Restford Came to Be
Restford was set up in George Town after a straightforward observation: a great many working people in Malaysia approach retirement with a stack of documents they cannot easily make sense of, and very few places to turn for plain, unhurried explanations that do not carry an ulterior motive.
The founders had spent years in administrative and organisational roles connected to the public-facing side of retirement processes. What they kept noticing was that the information people needed was, in principle, publicly available — but it was spread across multiple bodies, written in unfamiliar language, and rarely presented in a way that helped an individual know where to begin with their own folder of papers.
Restford was the answer they wished had already existed. A small operation with a focused brief: hold careful, well-prepared sessions that explain the general landscape in plain English, and provide a practical workshop for anyone who needs help organising the documents they already hold.
We do not manage money. We do not make recommendations. We are not a substitute for the EPF, SOCSO, or a licensed financial planner — and we say so clearly in every session. What we do is make the starting point a little less bewildering.

Restford earns from session fees only. We sell no products, receive no commissions, and have no relationship with any financial provider. Our information remains impartial.
Your Documents Stay Yours
We never ask you to hand over originals or share account credentials. The workshop is about labelling and structuring what you already hold — nothing leaves your hands.
Scope Clearly Defined
Every session begins with a clear statement of what we do and do not cover. Participants are encouraged to consult EPF, SOCSO, or a licensed planner for personal decisions.
Personal Data Handled Carefully
Enquiry and booking information is used solely for scheduling and communication. We do not share participant details with third parties for any commercial purpose.

Our facilitators review session materials regularly against official publications from EPF, SOCSO, and the relevant Malaysian authorities to ensure information remains accurate and up to date.

The Values Behind Restford
Clarity sits at the centre of everything we do. Retirement-related institutions in Malaysia publish substantial volumes of material, but much of it assumes a familiarity with procedural language that most people reasonably do not have. Restford translates that material into plain English — not by simplifying the substance, but by removing unnecessary complexity from how it is expressed.
Respect for the participant's autonomy is equally important. Our role is to inform, not to steer. Participants leave sessions better equipped to form their own questions, seek out the right offices, and interpret the documents already in their possession. What they do with that foundation is entirely their decision.
Grounded in Malaysia
Built for the Malaysian Context
Restford's content is built entirely around the Malaysian retirement framework — the Employee Provident Fund (EPF), SOCSO's invalidity and retirement provisions, the Private Retirement Scheme structure, and the various withdrawal and nomination processes that participants may encounter. We do not import frameworks from other countries and present them as relevant.
Our George Town location is deliberate. Penang has a well-established community of professionals and retirees with a practical, information-led approach to personal planning. Restford fits naturally into that culture — a reference resource, accessible to those who prefer to understand before they decide.
